I am the author of the award-winning memoir “Cuban Son Rising” and was the first Cuban-American hired as a CBS News Correspondent in 1979. I’ve covered wars and revolutions and major news stories over two decades. I’m an Emmy Award-winning journalist, investigative reporter and playwright.

During my long career as a television news journalist, I’ve interviewed among others, Fidel Castro, Nicaraguan President Anastasio Somoza, Salvadoran President Jose Napoleon Duarte, Jamaican President Edward Seaga, and Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos of the Philippines. My first book “Cuban Son Rising” was an Amazon bestseller, awarded Best Autobiography by the Benjamin Franklin Book Awards, IBPA (First Place Gold Prize), International Latino Book Awards Best Autobiography, and the Independent Press Awards, Best Autobiography (LGBTQ) and International Impact Awards, Best Autobiography (LGBTQ).

I’ve currently completed my first novel, “Eye of the Storm” which will be published in 2025 by Kindle Direct Publishing. My next book “Heart to Heart, My Transplant Odyssey: will be about receiving a heart transplant at the age of 70, which has given me a new lease on life.
